Getting back into the swing of it..

Up till recently, I've been on a bit of a low. Ever since the end of term really, if I'm completely honest. I don't really know why, I just know that I couldn't get into the get go of doing some work. I'm quite irritated at myself for not pushing myself to do stuff, because as a whole that's not really like me. Although I know in the past that whenever I've been in any sort of block, it's typically been around the beginning of summer.
I'm not going to wallow in it though. There's no point being annoyed with myself anymore. I got back from having a gorgeous time on holiday a few days ago, and I know that everyone says this, but I think it's exactly what I needed, because I got back and am inspired again, and really looking forward to getting stuck in. It actually feels so great to be sitting at my computer again, doing digital painting, completing research for the Summer Project and so on.
I did actually do some drawing whilst I was away, which was a lot of fun. There were a lot of people around, and although a lot decided to stay still RIGHT UP UNTIL the point I decided to draw them, there were a lot that were just lounging around.

These were some of my favourite pages from my sketchbook that I took with me on holiday. I really enjoyed doing these, but sometimes it got pretty irritating people moving around all the time. I love drawing people from life, I find it so helpful when it comes to improving my knowledge and experience.

I did this piece to loosen myself up to get back into doing digital painting. I enjoyed it so much, but it was quite difficult at first to get all of the hues in the skin because they're quite subtle, but I think I did quite well in achieving the soft look her skin has. I think the hand perhaps needed a bit more work, but I was urging towards getting it finished, so it's something I'll practice in future pieces. I really like how this piece turned out, I'm really happy with it, which is urging me on even more. Yay!
